BACKGROUND

Nepal is one of the poorest countries in South Asia; more than half of the population still live in absolute poverty. Among the challenges Nepal faces are a widening gap between the rich and poor and a lack of basic skill based vocational education and infrastructures – including electricity, water, and transport provision. There is also widespread unemployment, primitive agricultural system, a high level of migration, extreme corruption, and political instability.

A more than decade-long civil war, which ended in 2008, has pushed the nation even further back into poverty and undevelopment. Meanwhile, Nepal is particularly vulnerable to climate change and natural calamities such as earthquakes, floods, and landslides.

In 2015, two massive earthquakes struck the region, killing nearly 9,000 people and more than million homes were obliterate and making Nepal even more vulnerable to future disasters.

Food For Life Farming Center start working in Nepal since 2021 and is currently looking for the partners who will encourage and support us by providing fund to implement the project across the country to help the poor, marginalized, disenfranchised people of nation.

Following the earthquakes in 2015, Food for Life Farming Center will prepare people to be resilient, conduct an emergency aid operation and will be one of the organization to provide some pragmatic and tangible assistance in the time of natural catastrophic situations along with food and water.

Longer-term development work will be increasingly focused on the mid-Western part of the country, where poverty is highest, prioritizing marginalised people who are below the poverty.
